The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been conducting a two-year investigation into Tesla Autopilot, and it seems that a resolution is on the horizon. According to the agency’s acting head, Ann Carlson, a public announcement could be made soon. In a recent interview at the agency’s headquarters, Carlson emphasized the importance of both driver attention and driver monitoring systems in advanced driver assistance systems. While the details of the investigation remain undisclosed, there is hope that an update will be provided in the near future. Tesla, on the other hand, has yet to respond to requests for comment.
The primary focus of the NHTSA’s investigation is the performance of Tesla’s Autopilot system, specifically in relation to crashes involving stationary emergency vehicles.
