Melissa McCarthy Open to Bridesmaids Sequel

Melissa McCarthy has expressed her willingness to star in a sequel to the 2011 hit comedy Bridesmaids. McCarthy, who played the character Megan Price in the original movie, said in an interview with People that she would do a sequel “this afternoon, right now.” She described the group of women who starred in the film as “the most magical thing ever,” adding that she was good friends with most of the cast already.

McCarthy Reveals Details About Character’s Future

McCarthy has given some thought as to what her character and love interest, Air Marshall Jon, played by her real-life husband Ben Falcone, would be doing in a sequel. “They would be running her trucking company,” she said. “And they’re obviously private detectives, obviously, just to state what everybody knows. I think they have matching denim jackets with each other’s image painted on it. I think they’re so happy. And they’re running a dog rescue, I’ll say that.”

Fond Memories of Filming Bridesmaids

McCarthy also fondly recalled filming one of the most memorable scenes in Bridesmaids when they go dress shopping and end up with food poisoning. She said that it ended up being so funny, especially the part where Kristen Wiig’s character shoves 72 Jordan almonds in her mouth. “There was a take where she must have had 40 in there,” McCarthy said. “And we were like, ‘Kristen’s going to choke.’ It was also terribly unprofessional acting because anyone who wasn’t on camera was usually bent over and just shaking. None of us were behaving. Yeah, that and the dogs, I did enjoy all the dogs.”

Overall, McCarthy is clearly passionate about the idea of a Bridesmaids sequel and would be thrilled to join her former castmates for another magical time.
