Eddie Alcazar’s “Divinity” to Premiere at Taormina Film Festival

Eddie Alcazar’s highly acclaimed feature film “Divinity” is set to premiere internationally at the Taormina Film Festival in Italy on June 29th. The film has received high praise at Sundance and has been acquired by Utopia and Sumerian for seven figures. It will also be screened at the Munich Film Festival in Germany and the Fantasia Film Festival in Canada this summer.

The Plot

“Divinity” takes place in an otherworldly human existence where a scientist named Sterling Pierce is searching for immortality by creating a groundbreaking serum named “Divinity”. However, his son Jaxxon Pierce now controls and manufactures the serum, causing society on the barren planet to be entirely perverted by its supremacy. Two mysterious brothers arrive with a plan to abduct the mogul, and with the help of a seductive woman named Nikita, they are set on a path towards true immortality.

The Premiere

The European premiere of “Divinity” is highly anticipated and will be a highlight of the Taormina Film Festival. Writer and director Eddie Alcazar and stars Bella Thorne, Karrueche Tran, and Moises Arias will attend the celebration at the Teatro Antico. Barrett Wissman, the Festival’s Executive and Artistic Director, expressed his excitement about the film’s screening and its success at Sundance.

Prior to the success of “Divinity”, Alcazar directed “The Vandal”, which was executive produced by Darren Aronofsky and premiered at Cannes in 2021. He also directed the sci-fi thriller “Perfect” in 2018, which was executive produced by Steven Soderbergh through his company Brainfeeder Films and produced 2016’s “Kuso”.
