In a statement posted on Instagram, the restaurant expressed their support for the actress and mentioned that she would need a period of convalescence, followed by rehabilitation.

Despite her age, Sophia Loren has proven time and again that she is a force to be reckoned with. After an 11-year absence from the screen, she made a triumphant return in the 2020 Netflix film, “The Life Ahead.” Directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti, the movie is an adaptation of Romain Gary’s novel, “The Life Before Us.”

In “The Life Ahead,” Loren portrays Madame Rosa, a Neapolitan woman with a complex past who forms an unlikely bond with a young Senegalese orphan named Momo. Loren’s portrayal of Madame Rosa earned her critical acclaim and a David di Donatello Award for Best Actress. Her captivating performance showcased her ability to delve deep into a character’s emotions and bring them to life on the screen.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Loren shared her motivation for returning to acting after such a long hiatus. She explained that when her son gave her the book that inspired the film, she immediately felt connected to the character of Madame Rosa. In her own words, she said, “I was already filming it without filming it.” This deep connection and her trust in her son’s directing abilities convinced her that this was the right project to mark her return.

Loren’s brilliant performance in “The Life Ahead” garnered not only critical acclaim but also an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. This recognition reaffirmed her status as an exceptional talent in the industry, even after so many years.
