After an 11-year absence from the screen, she made a triumphant return in the 2020 Netflix film, “The Life Ahead.” Directed by her son, Edoardo Ponti, the movie is an adaptation of Romain Gary’s novel, “The Life Before Us.”

Loren’s portrayal of Madame Rosa earned her critical acclaim and a David di Donatello Award for Best Actress.
