Warner Bros has released an extended trailer for the upcoming film ‘Wonka’, directed by Paul King and set for release in Christmas 2023. The movie stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular character, a candymeister who travels the world perfecting his craft and is hoping to open a chocolate shop. The story is set in a mid-European city, although it was shot in London.
The trailer depicts Wonka as full of joy and optimism, despite being warned about the dangers of the chocolate industry. He crosses paths with an Oompa Loompa, played by Hugh Grant, and other characters portrayed by Keegan-Michael Key, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, and Jim Carter.
King wrote the screenplay with Simon Farnaby, and the cast and crew includes Harry Potter franchise producer David Heyman, executive producers Michael Siegel and Rosie Alison, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Mark Everson, and costume designer Lindy Hemming.
This is the third adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ taken on by WB, with the previous versions starring Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in 2005. The movie is set to be released offshore on December 13, 2023, and in North America on December 15, 2023.
