Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, is not ready to hang up his boots just yet. The 34-year-old football player expressed his desire to continue playing for the Chiefs in 2024, indicating that he has no reason to stop playing football. Although Kelce has contemplated retirement, he admitted that he never took it seriously enough to think about what he would do if he were no longer a part of the Chiefs. However, he has explored various opportunities outside of the sports world, such as appearing on camera for comedic sketches on “Saturday Night Live.” Kelce acknowledges that these experiences have provided him with a newfound happiness and potential career path. Nevertheless, he believes that retirement is still far down the road for him, and his focus remains on football for the foreseeable future.
Kelce’s impressive career includes seven consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, a remarkable feat for a tight end. This year, however, his streak came to an end when he fell just 16 yards short of the record. Despite having the opportunity to play in the final regular-season game, Kelce chose to rest and support his teammates as the Chiefs had already secured their division title and playoff seed. Reflecting on the situation, Kelce admitted that he didn’t attach much importance to reaching the 1,000-yard mark and preferred giving his body much-needed rest.
