Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 was recently introduced at the Galaxy Unpacked event, boasting a large 7.6-inch primary display and a secondary 6.3-inch outer screen. Equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and a 4,400mAh battery with fast charging capabilities, this foldable phone seemed to promise a lot to its users.
However, some users have started encountering a problematic issue with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 – paint peeling off the body of the device. Several complaints have surfaced on platforms like Reddit, showcasing small sections of paint coming off, especially near the power button and the top left corner of the rear panel.
Samsung has responded to these reports by suggesting that the paint peeling may be a result of using “incompatible third-party products” with the device. In particular, the company has pointed fingers at “high-speed third-party” chargers that are not properly grounded. According to Samsung, the leakage from these chargers could impact the anodisation of the phone, leading to the delamination of the paint.
Anodisation is highlighted by Samsung as the process that provides the metal body of the handset with a corrosion-resistant finish, making it both decorative and durable. The company also notes that the use of EMS massagers while using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 can also contribute to the paint peeling off. As a precaution, users are advised to keep the phone away from their body when using such products.
While Samsung acknowledges the potential risks associated with third-party chargers, the company states that reputable chargers adhering to the Qi standard should be safe to use with Samsung devices. However, for optimal performance and safety, users are encouraged to utilize authentic Samsung chargers specifically designed for their devices. It is worth mentioning that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 does not come with a charger in the box, requiring users to purchase one separately.
For users in India, the 25W charger is priced at Rs. 1,699, and the USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable is listed at Rs. 599 on the Samsung India website. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is available in three colour options – Navy, Pink, and Silver Shadow, with prices starting at Rs. 1,64,999 for the base model. Higher storage configurations are also available at higher price points.
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers an impressive array of features and specifications, the issue of paint peeling off the device raises concerns about its quality and durability. Users are advised to exercise caution when using third-party accessories and seek out official Samsung products for a seamless experience with their foldable phone.
