The Price Hike of Disney Streaming Services

The Price Hike of Disney Streaming Services

Disney has recently announced that it will be increasing the prices of its streaming platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. These price hikes are expected to take effect in mid-October, with most plans seeing a $1 to $2 increase per month. The most significant increase will be for the Hulu plans that include live TV, which will be going up by $6 per month.

The basic plan for Disney+ will be priced at $9.99 per month, while the premium plan will cost $15.99. Hulu’s plans with ads will now cost $9.99 per month, and the ad-free version will be priced at $18.99 per month. Meanwhile, ESPN+ subscriptions, which include ads, will see a price increase to $11.99 per month.

Disney continues to incentivize its customers to purchase bundled services as a way to get more value for their money. For a while now, Disney has been offering bundles that include Hulu and Disney+, or all three services (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+). Interestingly, the existing bundle of Disney+ and Hulu will also see a price hike, rising to $10.99 per month.

Partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery

In addition to its existing bundles, Disney has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery to offer a new bundle that includes Disney+, Hulu, and Max. This bundle will be priced at $16.99 with ads and $29.99 for a commercial-free experience, offering customers a 38% discount compared to purchasing the services separately.

To sweeten the deal for subscribers, Disney has announced the addition of ABC News Live and a curated playlist of preschool content, available to all subscribers starting September 4. The company also plans to introduce four more curated playlists exclusively for premium subscribers. According to Alisa Bowen, president of the streaming platform, these playlists are part of Disney’s efforts to provide the best value and experience for its subscribers.

Disney is making strategic moves to increase the prices of its streaming services while simultaneously expanding its content offerings and encouraging customers to opt for bundled services. With these changes, Disney aims to provide a more comprehensive entertainment experience for its subscribers.
