Apple Intelligence has been making waves in the tech world with the rollout of its latest features in preview last month. The iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 1 update brought some exciting changes, including the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) features. One user who had access to these new features recently posted a demo showcasing the capabilities of the Writing Tools.
The user, known as AppleLeaker (@LeakerApple), shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) demonstrating how the Writing Tools feature works. In the video, the user shows how the AI was able to proofread a 2,203-word Wikipedia article about OLED in less than two minutes. This impressive feat was achieved on the M2-powered iPad Pro, highlighting the device’s power and efficiency.
The Writing Tools floating window displayed in the demo included various features such as Proofread, Rewrite (offering three tones: Friendly, Professional, and Concise), Summary, and more. The user mentioned that the AI processed the proofreading in segments of 350 words, showcasing a systematic approach to editing and enhancing text.
Comparison with Samsung’s Galaxy AI
One interesting comparison made by the user was with Samsung’s Galaxy AI, which reportedly has a character limit of only “500 characters”. However, upon further investigation, it was found that Apple Intelligence’s feature could process up to 9,917 characters with spaces, outperforming Samsung’s tool by a significant margin. While the claims are impressive, it is important to note that they have only come from one source, and more comprehensive testing is needed to validate the findings.
As we delve deeper into the capabilities of Apple Intelligence, it becomes evident that we are entering a new era of AI-driven tools and functionalities. The potential for streamlining tasks, enhancing productivity, and improving overall user experience is immense. While the competition with Samsung’s Galaxy AI is fierce, Apple’s innovative approach and attention to detail may give them an edge in the long run. As we await the official release of these features to the public, it will be interesting to see how Apple Intelligence continues to evolve and push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of technology.
