The Legacy of Kevin Brophy

Kevin Brophy, a versatile actor known for his work in both television and film, passed away on May 11 at the age of 70 after a long battle with stage 4 cancer. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Brophy’s family moved to California where he attended high school in Del Mar. Following his graduation from the California Institute of the Arts (Cal Arts) in Valencia, Brophy went on to star as the title character in the TV series Lucan (1977-1978) and appeared in notable films such as The Long Riders (1980) and Hell Night (1981).

In addition to his starring roles, Brophy also had a successful career as a guest star on various television series and films. His credits include appearances on popular shows like The Love Boat, M*A*S*H, Growing Pains, The Hardy Boys Mysteries, and Hart to Hart. Brophy’s ability to seamlessly transition between lead roles and guest spots showcased his versatility as an actor and cemented his status as a respected industry professional.

Brophy’s contributions to the entertainment industry extended beyond acting, as he later went on to work at prestigious establishments such as the Hotel Bel Air and the Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills. Despite his busy career, Brophy remained committed to his family, leaving behind his wife, Amy Prettyman Brophy, his mother Carol, brother John (Wendy), and his children Kelly, Michael (Lindsey), Megan, and Ryan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jarrah and Saylor, whose lives he undoubtedly enriched with his presence.

To honor his memory and celebrate his life, a Celebration of Life for Kevin Brophy will be held at St. Cyril’s Church in Encino, California on Saturday, June 29th at 11 AM. This event will serve as a testament to Brophy’s lasting impact on both the entertainment industry and the lives of those who knew and loved him. Whether through his on-screen performances or his off-screen presence, Kevin Brophy leaves behind a legacy that will continue to resonate for years to come.
