The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine is committed to addressing healthcare disparities in rural areas. Four students in the inaugural class have received rural community scholarships, with the goal of encouraging them to practice in underserved communities once they graduate. This demonstrates the school’s dedication to training a new generation of physicians who are equipped to meet the healthcare needs of diverse populations.
An Exciting Partnership with HCA Healthcare
The collaboration with HCA Healthcare provides students with valuable clinical opportunities and pathways to residency programs. TriStar Health, an affiliate of HCA Healthcare, will play a key role in providing clinical clerkships for third-year students and elective rotations for fourth-year students. This partnership will not only enhance the educational experience of students but also facilitate their transition into residency and clinical practice.
The establishment of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine builds on a long-standing relationship between Belmont University and HCA Healthcare. The roots of this partnership can be traced back to the early days of HCA, with co-founders such as Thomas Frist Jr., MD, and his father, Thomas Frist Sr., MD, having strong ties to the university. This legacy of collaboration and innovation has laid the foundation for the development of a world-class medical education program.
The inauguration of the Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine at Belmont University marks a significant milestone in the healthcare landscape of Nashville.
