Qualcomm is on the verge of announcing a groundbreaking new variant of the Snapdragon X series chipset at the Internationale FunkAusstellung Berlin (Berlin International Radio Exhibition) 2024 event. The highly anticipated Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 model is rumored to fuel the upcoming “second wave” of AI PCs, also known as Copilot+ PCs. This chipset is projected to deliver an impressive 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS), setting a new standard for performance in the industry. Manufacturers such as Lenovo, Asus, and Acer have already started listing new laptop models featuring this cutting-edge chipset, with the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 expected to be the first device to be equipped with the processor.
According to a recent report by Winfuture, the new Snapdragon X series chipset will come with significant enhancements. Unlike its predecessors, this variant will feature eight cores and offer a maximum clock speed of 3.4GHz. While it promises exceptional processing power, the chipset’s GPU benchmark scores are anticipated to be slightly lower than earlier versions. Lenovo is gearing up to release the first Copilot+ PC featuring the Snapdragon X series chipset at the IFA 2024. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 has already been spotted on the Amazon Germany website, showcasing its impressive specifications. Boasting a 14-inch WUXGA OLED screen in a sleek Grey color, this laptop is equipped with 16GB of RAM and 512GB SSD storage. Furthermore, it is powered by a 57Wh battery, ensuring long-lasting performance for users. In addition to the IdeaPad Slim 5, the Vivobook S15 and the ProArt PZ13 from Asus, as well as the Acer Swift Go 14, are expected to incorporate the new Snapdragon X series chipset into their designs.

While Qualcomm is making significant strides with its latest chipset, Intel is also preparing to launch its Lunar Lake chipset, which is rumored to offer up to 67 TOPS of performance.
