Rahul Kohli, known for his roles in iZombie and The Fall of the House of Usher, recently shared that he was in consideration for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming film, The Fantastic Four. Specifically, he tried out for the role of Mister Fantastic, Reed Richards. However, despite his efforts, he ultimately did not secure the part. In an interview with Salaam Nerds, Kohli mentioned, ““Yeah, I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it but I didn’t get it, is the important thing.”
Mixed Emotions and Self-Reflection
Reflecting on the experience, Kohli revealed his conflicting emotions about the audition process. He described how, on good days, he felt a sense of validation and appreciation for being considered for such a significant role. Kohli expressed, ““On good days, I see the Constantine. It will flare up once and again. And, I love all of them. On good days, you’re like, ‘Man, I’m wanted!’ People really want to see. You’re the guy that people will shout out for anything.” However, on bad days, he grappled with feelings of inadequacy and disappointment. He confessed, ““It’s a reminder that you’re not the guy. You’re not there. These are the roles you’ll never get.’ So, it’s sweet and it’s perspective. It’s how you feel about yourself.”
Marvel’s Casting Decisions
Although Kohli was not chosen for the role of Mister Fantastic, Pedro Pascal ultimately secured the part. The Fantastic Four cast also includes Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Econ Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Additionally, other actors like Julia Garner, Paul Walter-Hauser, John Malkovich, Ralph Ineson, and Natasha Lyonne have been announced as part of the ensemble.
