Primary School Teacher Found Dead in Glasgow

The death of a primary school teacher in Glasgow is being investigated as suspicious. The body of Marelle Sturrock, 35, was found at a property in Jura Street on Tuesday morning. The police believe that the incident is linked to a manhunt that is currently taking place in Mugdock Country Park, East Dunbartonshire, nine miles away. Despite the link, the police have said that there is no threat to the wider public.

Beloved Staff Member

Ms Sturrock worked at Sandwood Primary School, Glasgow, and was described as a “beloved” staff member. In a letter sent to parents and carers, headteacher Fiona Donnelly expressed her deep sorrow and promised support to all those affected. Educational psychologists will be on hand to offer help and advice.

Ms Sturrock was originally from the Scottish Highlands but moved to Glasgow when she was 17 to pursue a career in the performing arts. After completing her postgraduate diploma in education, she became a primary school teacher.

Extensive Searches

Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly said that officers had been carrying out extensive searches of Mugdock Country Park in relation to a missing person in the area. The police are still investigating the incident and have asked anyone with information or concerns to contact them. The parents of Ms Sturrock have been informed of her death.
