OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 2: A Closer Look at the New Features

OnePlus has recently unveiled the OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 2, which comes just a few weeks after the initial release of the OxygenOS 14 open beta update for select OnePlus models. This latest update is based on Android 14 and brings a host of new features to supported OnePlus handsets. In this article, we will dive deeper into the details of these new features and discuss the impact they will have on the overall user experience.

One of the key highlights of OxygenOS 14 is the introduction of the Trinity Engine. According to OnePlus, this engine is specifically designed to enhance multitasking capabilities, handle heavy tasks more efficiently, and extend battery life. By utilizing CPU Vitalization, RAM Vitalization, and ROM Vitalization, OxygenOS 14 optimizes the distribution of internal resources within the phone, resulting in improved performance and longer battery life. OnePlus claims that the OnePlus 11 running OxygenOS 14 can provide an additional 20 minutes of battery life compared to its predecessor, OxygenOS 13. Moreover, the ROM Vitalization technology ensures that OnePlus handsets continue to run smoothly even after 48 months of regular use.

Gaming enthusiasts will be pleased to know that OxygenOS 14 incorporates HyperRendering, HyperTouch, and HyperBoost technologies, all aimed at delivering a more immersive and fluid gaming experience. The new iteration of HyperBoost includes AI machine learning, intelligent performance control, and innovative graphics element layout approaches. These advancements help address power consumption issues without compromising the consistency of frame rates. OnePlus promises gamers a seamless and high-performance gaming experience with OxygenOS 14.

OnePlus has also taken significant measures to enhance security and privacy features in OxygenOS 14. The update introduces the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)-based Device Security Engine 3.0, adding an extra layer of security to supported OnePlus handsets. Additionally, the Security Center has been revamped with a new unified interface, simplifying the management of security standing and privacy settings. OxygenOS 14 also introduces Strong Box, a chip-level security encryption technology powered by the embedded Secure Element (eSE) security chip. This technology ensures that third-party access to passwords is safeguarded.

OxygenOS 14 brings several improvements to user control and functionality. The Auto Pixelate 2.0 feature conceals additional private information when sharing screenshots, such as contact details and credit card numbers. The new photo and video permission management option, “Ask every time,” allows users to grant or deny access to their media files on an app-by-app basis. Meanwhile, the Smart Cutout tool enables users to identify and crop out up to three elements within a picture or video, making it easier to isolate subjects from complex backgrounds.

The design of OxygenOS 14 is built upon the Aquamorphic Design 2.0, which introduces the Fluid Cloud feature and offers alerts to users in a seamless and organic manner. The interface integrates bubbles, capsules, and panels, providing a visually pleasing and intuitive experience. Furthermore, the update includes eleven new global UI sound designs with an Aquamorphic theme, enhancing the overall audio experience for OnePlus users.
