JioCinema, an Indian digital streaming platform, has set new records for digital sports viewing with over 1,300 crore video views for the first five weeks of the TATA IPL 2023 cricket tournament. The platform’s fan-centric presentation has kept viewers engaged, with an average of 60 minutes spent per viewer per match. Record-Breaking Concurrent Viewership and Features
JioCinema has broken peak concurrency records twice in the span of five days, with a peak viewership of 2.23 crore during the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match and 2.4 crore during the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings fixture. Following the overwhelming response, JioCinema has released a 360-degree viewing feature that showcases the power of immersive fan engagement on digital. Viewers can also watch IPL in different language feeds, including Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Marathi, and Gujarati. Digital-only features like Multi-cam, 4K, and Hype Mode are also available. Additionally, JioCinema offers highlights and top player interviews, including Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Faf Du Plessis, Rashid Khan, and David Miller through partnerships with IPL teams.
JioCinema’s number of advertisers and revenue booked has also set a new record, with both significantly higher than last year on digital. Furthermore, JioCinema has secured a deal to bring Warner Bros. Discovery content, including HBO shows, to the platform. This is expected to go live in May, with JioCinema expected to switch to a subscription-based model after the conclusion of IPL 2023.
