Jayson Tatum Scores Record-Breaking 51 Points to Lead Celtics to Eastern Conference Finals

In a historic Game 7 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, Jayson Tatum led the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals with a record-breaking 51-point performance. Tatum’s score beats the previous record of 50 points held by Stephen Curry. Tatum also became the fifth NBA player to score at least 50 points, grab 10 rebounds, and make five assists in a playoff game.

Tatum had struggled in Game 6 with one of the worst shooting nights of his career, but he bounced back in Game 7 with one of the best performances in franchise history. Tatum scored or assisted on 62 points in the game, outshining the Sixers’ star duo of Joel Embiid and James Harden, who combined for just 44 points.

Celtics Advance to Conference Finals

With the Game 7 victory, the Boston Celtics advanced to the conference finals for the second consecutive season and the fifth time in the past seven seasons. Boston will face off against the Miami Heat in Game 1 on Wednesday night.

Tatum called Sunday’s game a chance for the Celtics to redeem themselves after getting routed in their last game in Boston, drawing boos from the home crowd. The Celtics had to rally from being down 3-2 in the series to win in Game 7, mirroring the situation they faced in last year’s Eastern Conference semifinals against Milwaukee.

Boston Fans Chant “Beat the Heat”

As the final seconds of the game ticked off the clock, Boston fans began chanting, “Beat the Heat. Beat the Heat.” The Celtics are currently favored to beat the Miami Heat according to Caesars Sportsbook, opening as a -500 favorite to win.

Tatum’s historic performance in Game 7 is sure to give the Celtics a boost of confidence as they go up against a formidable opponent in the Miami Heat. Fans will be eagerly awaiting the start of the Eastern Conference finals, with both teams looking to make it to the NBA Finals.
