Haunted Mansion Director Justin Simien Discusses Upcoming Film Adaptation

Justin Simien, the director of the upcoming Haunted Mansion film adaptation, has expressed his desire to create a unique and original take on the beloved Disney attraction. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Simien stated that he aimed to please both fans of the ride and those who remember the previous film adaptation starring Eddie Murphy and directed by Rob Minkoff.

Simien revealed that he spent time analyzing the Murphy film in order to avoid repeating any elements that had already been explored. He explained that he wanted to focus on the essence of the Haunted Mansion ride, which he referred to as “the candy of the mansion that they know and love.” Simien’s goal is to create something completely different, while still maintaining the essence of the attraction.

Plot and Cast of the Upcoming Film

The upcoming Haunted Mansion film adaptation will star actress Rosario Dawson as a single mother who brings in a team of paranormal specialists to contain the ghosts in her New Orleans home. The team includes LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, and Tiffany Haddish.

The film will feature cameos from characters of the ride, such as Jamie Lee Curtis portraying Madame Leota and Jared Leto as the Hatbox Ghost.

Simien’s Haunted Mansion is scheduled to hit theaters on July 28th and is expected to be a thrilling and unique take on the classic Disney attraction. Fans of the ride and the previous film adaptation can look forward to seeing a new perspective on the iconic haunted house.
