There’s already buzz in the tech world about the upcoming Google Pixel 9, even though the Pixel 8 has just hit the market. Leaked renders of the Pixel 9 have started surfacing online, giving us a glimpse of what Google’s next flagship smartphone might look like. The renders showcase a blue variant of the handset and suggest some exciting changes, particularly in the camera department.
One noticeable update in the Pixel 9 design is the presence of three cameras on the rear, marking a significant improvement over the vanilla model. It seems that Google has also given the rear camera module a fresh redesign, with flattened edges similar to those on the Pixel 9 Pro. The front of the phone features a hole-punch cutout to house the selfie camera, integrated into the display.
According to tipster Steve H. McFly (@OnLeaks), who previously shared CAD-based renders of the Pixel 9 Pro, the standard Pixel 9 will feature a compact design with flattened sides, reminiscent of the latest iPhone 15 series. The leaked renders highlight a revamped rear camera module housing three sensors and an LED flash, offering a significant upgrade compared to the dual rear cameras present in the previous Pixel models.
Unlike its predecessors, the Pixel 9 adopts an oval-shaped island design for the camera unit instead of extending the camera bar across the entire width of the back panel. This design choice is reminiscent of the Pixel Fold, Google’s foray into the foldable smartphone market. The camera setup is rumored to include a new periscope telephoto lens, giving users enhanced zoom capabilities.
In terms of specifications, the Pixel 9 is expected to bring the regular Pixel lineup closer to its Pro counterpart. The leaked renders suggest that the handset will measure approximately 152.8×71.9×8.5mm and sport a 6.1-inch screen, slightly smaller than the Pixel 8’s 6.2-inch display. This compact form factor indicates Google’s focus on providing users with a comfortable grip.
As for color options, the leaked images showcase the Pixel 9 in an attractive blue hue. However, it’s anticipated that Google will offer the handset in multiple color variants to cater to different preferences and style choices.
It is expected that Google will announce the Pixel 9 series in October, following its usual launch pattern. The Pixel 9 is rumored to run on Android 15, the latest iteration of Google’s operating system, providing users with access to the newest features and improvements. Additionally, the handset is likely to be powered by Google’s in-house Tensor G4 SoC, ensuring optimal performance and seamless user experience.
While the Google Pixel 8 is still making waves in the market, the leaked renders and specifications of the Pixel 9 have already sparked excitement among tech enthusiasts. With a fresh design, camera upgrades, and a compact form factor, the Pixel 9 promises to be a flagship smartphone worth considering. As we eagerly await its official unveiling, it will be interesting to see how Google’s next offering competes with other top-tier devices in the market.
