Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Total Compensation Revealed at $226 Million

According to a securities filing on Friday, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, the parent company of Google, received a total compensation package worth approximately $226 million in 2022. This figure is over 800 times the median employee’s pay. Pichai’s compensation includes around $218 million in stock awards.

This announcement comes at a time when Google’s parent company, Alphabet, has been cutting jobs globally. In January, the Mountain View, California-based company announced plans to cut 12,000 jobs globally, equivalent to 6% of its global workforce. Furthermore, in March, Google employees staged a walkout at the company’s Zurich offices after over 200 workers were laid off. Earlier this month, hundreds of Google employees also staged a walkout at the company’s London offices after a dispute over layoffs.

Google’s Bard Chatbot Aims to Revolutionize Coding

Despite the layoffs, Google is still focused on innovation. On Friday, the tech giant announced its generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Bard. This chatbot aims to help users write code to develop software and catch up with competitors in the fast-moving AI technology industry.

Bard can code in 20 programming languages, including Java, C++, and Python. It can also optimize code to make it faster and more efficient by prompting users with simple questions such as “Could you make that code faster?” Additionally, Bard can help debug and explain code to users.

Currently, Bard is only accessible to a small group of users who can chat with the bot and ask questions instead of using Google’s traditional search tool. Google is hoping that the launch of Bard will help it stand out among its competitors in the AI industry.
