Danny Elfman Excited to Return to Beetlejuice World

Danny Elfman, who partnered with Tim Burton for the iconic 1988 film Beetlejuice, expressed his excitement to return to that world for the upcoming sequel. Elfman shared during the taping of an upcoming episode of Deadline’s The Process, that he loves being a fly on the wall when Burton is shooting, and he will be doing that in a couple of months for another Tim Burton project, alluding to the sequel. Elfman also shared that Michael Keaton, who played the titular ghoul, will be returning to the film.

Details About the Beetlejuice Sequel

The plot of the Beetlejuice sequel is still a secret, but it is known that Burton will direct it from a script by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Keaton and Winona Ryder are expected to reprise their roles, with Jenna Ortega joining the cast as Ryder’s daughter. The movie will be shot in London this summer, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B is onboard.

Danny Elfman’s Career and Excitement for Performances

Elfman shared that he is splitting his time between creating different kinds of music, including classical, rock and roll, and “monster music” for a theme park in Orlando. He is also excited to perform his music for the Netflix series Wednesday, which he has composed the score for and is part of the Elfman-Burton, Burton-Elfman thing they created. Elfman expressed his desire to perform his music for the show in concert, and he thinks it’s inevitable because they still do the Elfman-Burton show, which comprises music from the films of Tim Burton and performs it all over the place.

Elfman also shared that he grew up with past series adaptations of the ’60s and ’70s and has a great love of the Addams Family. He said that he feels like it’s really now part of the Elfman-Burton, Burton-Elfman thing they created. He also shared that how to keep yourself fresh is really always the trick for anybody with a long career, and he just has to keep working on new, challenging things.
