The highly anticipated movie adaptation of Borderlands is set to hit theaters on August 9, and fans can get a taste of the action at San Diego Comic-Con. While the stars and filmmaker may not be attending the event, fans can immerse themselves in the world of Borderlands at Moxxi’s Bar. Located in the Gas Lamp district, this pop-up event will transform 207 Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel into the infamous watering hole from the video game. Inside, fans can enjoy live sets by DJ Claptrap, sip on Borderlands-inspired cocktails curated by Ballantine’s Scotch whisky, and even try their luck at playing slots for a chance to win film merch. Borderlands x Ballantine’s Partnership
Ballantine’s Scotch whisky has a longstanding partnership with Borderlands, dating back to 2022 when they appointed bar mogul Mad Moxxi as the Chief Galactic Expansion Officer (CGEO). To celebrate this collaboration, Moxxi created her own limited-edition bottle of Scotch whisky: the Ballantine’s x Moxxi’s Bar Edition. This exclusive release launched on Pandora and later became available at select retailers. During Comic-Con, Ballantine’s will be supplying Moxxi’s bar with a limited run of the Ballantine’s x Moxxi’s Bar Edition, giving fans a chance to taste this unique collaboration.
Mountain Dew Borderlands Motel
For fans traveling through Albuquerque on their way to San Diego, the Mountain Dew Borderlands Motel at the Monterey Motel offers an immersive experience into the dystopian planet of Pandora. Co-sponsored by Mountain Dew and Regal Cinemas, this event is open to fans 18+ and 21+ (to drink). Taking place on July 22 at 5:30 p.m. MT, this experience is part of Regal Cinemas’ Ultimate Borderlands Road Trip tour across the country, with refueling stops in Knoxville, Atlanta, Birmingham, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Hollywood, all leading up to Comic-Con.
