Canva, the popular online design platform, made significant announcements at its first international Canva Create event in Los Angeles. The company introduced a massive overhaul of its platform, presenting users with a fresh homepage and editing experience. This redesign aims to improve workplace productivity and speed up workflows. The changes include a new contextual editing toolbar, a customizable homepage for users to favorite designs and templates, improved search interfaces, easier navigation, and the ability for organizations to pin company-wide content.
In addition to the platform redesign, Canva also introduced a new subscription service called Canva Enterprise, catered towards large organizations with complex brand management and security requirements. This subscription allows businesses to create a large number of designs and templates, collaborate at scale, and secure brand assets. Canva Enterprise offers features such as scalable cloud storage, a centralized account with design and collaboration tools, and security tools like Canva Shield, SSO, and MFA, to ensure data safety.
During the event, Canva highlighted the success of its Magic Studio, used over 6.5 billion times since its launch. The company introduced six new features for its AI-powered editing suite, including Magic Media for text-to-image generation, Magic Design for high-quality presentations, Resize and Magic Switch for design conversion, Styles & Layout tool for brand consistency, an improved AI-powered photo editor, and Enhance Voice for audio enhancement in videos. Additionally, Canva upgraded its Visual Suite with features like tracking changes, approved asset libraries from major platforms, Data Autofill for importing data, and Bulk Create for easy design updates.
Moving beyond design, Canva expanded its offerings to cater to workplace needs with specialized tools called Work Kits for various teams like marketing, human resources, sales, and creative departments. These customisable kits can be branded using Canva’s Brand Kit. The company also unveiled Canva Courses, interactive learning modules to help users upskill in design across different formats like presentations, documents, and videos. Progress from Canva Courses can be managed through a central dashboard.
As part of its expansion, Canva announced the acquisition of Affinity, a desktop design app, and launched a new version with additional features like Variable Font support, Stroke Width Tool, and ARM64 chipset compatibility.
Canva’s recent announcements at the Canva Create event signal a strategic move towards empowering organizations with enhanced design tools, AI features, and enterprise-focused subscriptions. The revamped platform, innovative AI-powered tools, tailored workplace solutions, and interactive training modules showcase Canva’s commitment to providing a comprehensive design ecosystem for businesses of all sizes.
