All-NBA Teams Unveiled with Embiid and James Leading the Way

The NBA has revealed its All-NBA teams for the 2020-21 season, with Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid earning a spot on the first team for the first time in his career. Embiid, who was also named the league’s Most Valuable Player, led the NBA in scoring for the second consecutive year. He was joined on the first team by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Jayson Tatum.

James Extends All-Time Record with 19th Selection

Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James, who missed out only in his rookie year, extended his all-time record to 19 All-NBA selections, leading the third-team selections. Along with him were Domantas Sabonis, De’Aaron Fox, Damian Lillard, and Julius Randle.

Other Notable Selections

The second team included Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Jaylen Brown, Nikola Jokic, and Donovan Mitchell. Antetokounmpo, who had a fifth straight first-team selection, was the only unanimous first-team pick. Contract Implications for All-NBA Selections

The All-NBA selections also have contractual implications for some players. Brown, for instance, qualified for a five-year, $295 million supermax extension with the Celtics this summer. Tatum also secured a supermax extension for next summer since he made All-NBA in each of the past two seasons. Other players who missed out on All-NBA honors, such as Ja Morant, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet, also missed out on potential contract increases.
